Spring Benefit Concert: Bloch "Sacred Service"

Saturday, April 27, 2019 8 pm - Church of the Epiphany, 1317 G St NW, Washington, DC

Our Spring Benefit Concert features Ernest Bloch's Sacred Service (Avodath Hakodesh) with Cantor Asa Fradkin, baritone. Sung in Hebrew and English, the Sacred Service stands among the most distinguished examples of Jewish choral music of the last century. The dramatic, post-Romantic score mirrors the wide range of emotions and ideas conveyed in the devotional text and blends together many of the diverse, early 20th-century influences that Bloch absorbed and reworked in his own music. Proceeds from the concert will support Yachad, our 2018-19 beneficiary.
